Products and Services
During one-year terms of service, teams of Blue Engine Fellows—recent college graduates of all academic backgrounds—work to accelerate academic achievement in high-need public high schools. Our theory of change is rooted in evidence that increased academic rigor is the most effective way of helping students—especially those from low-income backgrounds—acquire the academic skills they will need to succeed in college and complete their degrees on time.
In its inaugural year (2010), Blue Engine recruited 12 Blue Engine Fellows who currently work as Integrated Algebra Teaching Assistants at Washington Heights Expeditionary Learning School in New York City.
Blue Engine launched at the Clinton Global Initiative in 2009. Founder/CEO Nick Ehrmann was awarded an Echoing Green Fellowship in 2010.
Future of Our Company
After refining our program model, Blue Engine plans to expand its work to include additional grades, schools, and subjects.
Blue Engine partners with teachers and Blue Engine Teaching Apprentices (BETAs) to create a powerful classroom environment for students where they feel seen and heard. The teacher-BETA collaboration enables daily student reflection and learning.
